History

Established in 1992 Eltrak Bulgaria is one of the first private companies that started the import of construction and mining equipment in Bulgaria.

1992 Ekko Ltd (the predecessor of Eltrak Bulgaria) becomes the authorized Bulgarian dealer of Caterpillar, the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines. Ekko Ltd. was fully owned by Barlows Tractor International, the Caterpillar dealer for South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Malawi.
1993 Ekko Ltd. was appointed as the dealer of Bobcat skid steer loaders and mini excavators (until 2000) in Bulgaria.
1994 Ekko Ltd. was appointed as the dealer of Ingersoll-Rand drilling equipment (until 2004) in Bulgaria.
2001 Ekko Ltd. changed its name to Barloworld Bulgaria Ltd. and became the official dealer of Bitelli paving equipment and compactors in Bulgaria.
2002 Barloworld Bulgaria also became Bulgaria’s authorized dealer of Perkins – the leading manufacturer of diesel and gas engines in the 4-2000 kW (5-2600 hp) range.
2004 Barloworld Bulgaria was acquired by Eltrak S.A., Greece and changed its name to Eltrak Bulgaria Ltd.
2006 Eltrak Bulgaria Ltd. became the authorized dealer of Terex/O&K (currently taken over by Bucyrus International Inc.) – the world’s manufacturer of mining excavators with operating weight from 85 up to 1,000 tonnes and a market leader for the hydraulic shovels above 200 tonnes. The company opened its representation office in Bourgas.
2007 Eltrak Bulgaria opened its representation office in Varna.
2008 Eltrak Bulgaria’s new trade and service center was opened in Sofia. The company started its activity in Stara Zagora as well. The new service of CAT Rental was announced.
2009 The company becomes the country’s authorized distributor of HARTL Powercrusher – the Austrian manufacturer of mobile crushing and screening plants, subsequently taken over by Atlas Copco Group and renamed to Atlas Copco Powercrusher. Eltrak Bulgaria also starts selling the lift trucks of Caterpillar. The company receives its ISO 9001:2008 certification.
