Product Link gathers data from a machine’s on-board systems and transmits it wirelessly via satellite to Caterpillar’s network operations centre. That information can then be delivered to the machine owner’s desktop or, depending on the service agreement, can be managed by the dealer. In either case, the owner can access the information via a password-protected Internet portal.
The information on the machine is regularly updated and at all times automatically monitored by software, it’s like having a dedicated service technician watch over the machine day and night – but without the expense.
